Size 40 (Fits M) • One of Gaultier’s famous signatures was the use of optical illusions combined with his silhouettes. One of these illusions incorporated the use of slight changes in patterns on clothing to create muscular shapes on the wearer. The muscles were labeled Homme (for men) but given women’s sizing, for example 40 on this piece. For clothing like this bomber they tend to be unisex in fit so that anyone can be a muscle man, fitting with Gaultier’s usual commentary on sex and what we perceive as normal and attractive.
