A model of denim predating the famous 501 denim. In the 2000’s Levi’s acquired a pair of pants found in the Nevada desert at a mining area for $45,000. The pair is one of the oldest and well preserved pairs of denim ever found, being dated back to the 1880’s, this being done by the 1873 patent engravings on the rivets, a patent that expired in 1890. LVC is a branch of Levis (Levis Vintage Clothing) and deals with digging into their extensive 20,000 pair archive and replicating significant pairs of denim. A couple of re-editions have been made including one for Japan, but this 500 limited edition is one of the best LVC’s. The pair features 1873 patent engraved rivets, painted to appear oxidized, one rear pocket and one tool pocket. A single stitch selvedge waistband with no belt loops, only suspender buttons. The pockets are full denim instead of fabric. There is also a pocket watch pocket. The back features an adjustable waist strap and centered Old English font leather brand tab. The pants also have a tattered and distressed wash after being dyed in real indigo instead of synthetic. Lots of other small details as well, hand distressed by Bart Sights.
There are multiple very different re-makes, we believe this is the 2001 edition as it was limited to 500 as well and looks to be the one.
