Martin Margiela had the famous “Artisanal” line which consisted of strange art like takes on clothing and accessories, usually denoted with a special tag with the 0 circled. One of his most notable lines that was also revisited in the H&M collection a decade later was the painted artisanal denim items. There were denim truckers and bottoms, painted in different colors, usually white or black or blue to contrast with the underlying denim color. This pair is painted with a rubbery grey paint, as well as having the pockets removed and distressed to show the contrast of the original denim color being hidden. Over time the paint will begin to get thinner with wear and blue should come out with the grey.
