93 Nike Decades (morbid collectible)

One of the most morbid parts of sneaker history. The Nike decades were a line of shoes Nike was launching. They have become an infamous shoe being listed for 1-6k on sites due to one reason. The shoes were worn by all cult members participating in the Heavens Gate Cult mass ”exodus”, as they tried to leave the planet as “planet earth was being recycled”. As pictures started emerging of the cults “uniform” which included black Nike Decades, Nike screamed for production to stop and all pairs to be removed from market. Later a pair of dunks were released in a purple colorway, but also discontinued after the it was revealed the design was inspired by the cult. The symbol has also inspired samples on Flying Lotus/Captain Murphy mixtapes and the cover art of the Eternal Attake etc. Definitely a strange, collectible, yet morbid aspect of clothing.
