An early example of some interesting experimenting with materials by Carol Christian Poell. Now known for doing previously unknown methods of modification to leather and other design aspects this pant is a early testament to that. Upon seeing the wash label you will see the pants have a blend of Kevlar and Graphite. Kevlar is a synthetic heat resistant fiber originally developed to replace steel in racing tires, it is also used bullet proof vests at different grades (do not shoot these). Kevlar is expensive to manufacture as well. So from what we’ve learned about these the Kevlar seems to be holding the graphite layer which helps the distressing have a crackling stone type effect as it is worn that cracks like glass or rock. As old as these are they’re still fresh and you will probably not see these again for years.
